Prof. Tekbaş received his BS degree in economics from Istanbul University, he holds an MBA degree from Indiana University, USA, and a Ph.D degree in business finance from Istanbul University. He was promoted to associate professor and full professor positions at the Business School of Istanbul University. He lectured as a visiting professor at Istanbul Technical University, Roosevelt University at Chicago; Northeastern University, Boston, and Suffolk University both at Boston. He is one of the pioneers in the securities markets in Turkey. He wrote regularly in various newspapers and journals on issues related to securities markets. In 1988 he was appointed as the president of the Capital Market Board of Turkey, the regulatory body of the securities markets and exchanges. During his presidential term 1988 - 1992 he took the necessarry actions to make turkish securities market a leading and efficient one in emerging economies. He served as the Dean of the Business School of Istanbul University, as the Director of the Business Administration Instiute, as the chairman of the International Academic Relations Committee, and as the founding director of the Research Center for Securities Markets (SERPAM) of the same university. Prof. Tekbaş also served as a board member at Turkish Capital Market Association, at Garring Foundation based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and at various leading industrial corporations of Turkey. He was the founding partner of Değer Securities and AKT Center for Applied Research, and served as a consultant for Fraunhofer Institute for Supply Chain and Logistics based in Dortmund, Germany. Currently Prof. Tekbaş is an adjunct professor at Turkish-German University in Istanbul, the chairman of the board at Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), and serves as an independent board member at several corporations.
